Configuring the KALLO

Overview

The KALLO is configured via the Configuration Panel, found under the Monitor tab within the Ranlytics Dashboard. These configurations are made up of Cellular RF Tests, Cellular Throughput Tests, Voice Call Tests, and P25 Tests. KALLOs continuously perform these tests, looping from top to bottom.

All configuration lists are applied to all KALLOs inside selected sites.

Please note: Changes will be lost unless you click Apply Changes before leaving the page.

Step 1. Create a Configuration

  • Click Add New Configuration

  • Enter a configuration name

  • Use a clear site or project naming format

Step 2. Configure Cellular RF Tests

Passive RF testing does not require a SIM card.

Configure:

  • PLMN

  • Technology

  • Band

  • [Optional] SIM Slot

  • [Optional] APN

Operator and frequency fields auto-populate after PLMN and band selection.

Step 3. Configure Throughput Tests

Throughput testing requires:

  • A valid SIM card

  • Active data allowance

  • APN configured if required

Configure:

  • PLMN

  • Technology (UMTS, LTE, or NR SA)

  • Band

  • [Optional] SIM slot

    • The KALLO will automatically use the first SIM capable of serving on the configured network unless specified.

  • Toggle Ping Only Tests

    • Toggle on to perform ping tests, collecting latency and jitter while minimising SIM costs.

  • Toggle RRC Collection

    • RRC messages provide further insight into active test sessions.

  • APN

  • Test server

Step 3a. Configure Test Servers

You may use:

  • Default Ranlytics servers

  • Custom HTTP servers

  • Custom iPerf servers

HTTP Server Setup (Optional)

Configure:

  • Download URL

  • Upload URL

iPerf Server Setup (Optional)

Configure:

  • Host

  • Port

Step 4. Configure Voice Call Tests

Voice Call testing requires:

  • A valid voice-capable SIM card.

Configure:

  • PLMN

  • Technology (UMTS or LTE only)

  • Band

  • [Optional] SIM slot

    • The KALLO will automatically use the first SIM capable of serving on the configured network unless specified.

  • Toggle RRC Collection

    • RRC messages provide further insight into active test sessions.

  • Phone Number

  • Call Duration

Step 5. Configure Active Test Scheduling

  1. Open the scheduling menu

  2. Select timezone

  3. Set active hours

  4. Choose test interval

  5. Select active days

  6. Save the schedule

Step 6. Configure 3GPP Release (Optional)

3GPP LTE and NR release settings are available upon request. This may be useful for testing private LTE (pLTE) networks, specifically if active sessions are not able to be initiated on older 3GPP releases.

Step 7. Assign Configuration to a Site

a. From the Configuration Panel

  • Open the Configuration Panel

  • Click the + icon beside the configuration

  • Search for the target site

  • Select the site

Only unassigned sites will appear in the list.

b. From the Site Page

  • Open the site in Network Health Monitoring Workbench

  • Select the required configuration under Site Configuration

  • Click Apply Changes
