Overview
The KALLO is able to be configured to measure a variety of RF metrics over extended periods of time. It measures these metrics consistently and will report all findings to the Ranlytics Dashboard roughly once every 15 minutes. These configurations are applied on a site-by-site basis. All KALLOs assigned to an individual site will share the same configuration.
Measured metrics can be displayed in two ways:
Ranmonitor displays results for all configured cellular RF tests on a configurable graph. All bands, PLMN, and technologies can be toggled to show power (RSRP/RSCP) and noise (RSRQ/SINR/ECNO).
Data visualisation platforms (such as Grafana) are interfaces which can be configured to show all relevant RF metrics, both from passive and throughput testing.
The Configuration Panel
Clicking on the Configurations Panel icon allows for the adding of desired configurations to your KALLOs.
Please note: navigating away from the configurations panel without clicking the "Apply Changes" button will discard any changes.
Adding Configurations
Clicking "Add New Configuration" or hovering over an existing configuration and clicking the right-arrow will allow you to define the configuration.
1. Naming Configurations
Upon adding a new configuration, you will be prompted to assign it a name. It is recommended that this name reflect the configuration's purpose, the relevant project name, or the relevant site name - as one configuration must be applied to all KALLOs assigned to an individual site.
2. Cellular RF Testing
The KALLO is able to perform passive testing without inserting a SIM card. This passive testing will measure RSRP/RSCP and RSRQ/SINR/ECNO of all inputted PLMNs, technologies, and bands. The Operator and Frequency fields auto-populate once the PLMN and Band fields are inputted respectively.
3. Cellular Throughput Testing
The KALLO can only perform throughput testing when inserted with a valid SIM card with sufficient data. This will measure all relevant metrics on all PLMNs, technologies, and bands specified in the "Cellular RF Tests" tab. To do so, the desired PLMNs and APNs must be inputted, and a test server must be selected. If necessary, SPNs may also be inputted, dictating the specific SIM to be used for the test. In the absence of an SPN, the KALLO will select a SIM following the relevant PLMN.
Test Server Configuration
By default, test servers in the USA, Germany, and Australia are available to be targeted by KALLO throughput tasks. These default servers utilise librespeed, an open-source speed test solution, which we've set up with our own servers. If necessary, custom HTTP or iPerf test servers can be targeted by inputting their relevant URLs, host names, and/or ports.
3GPP Release Settings
3GPP Release settings for both LTE and NR are available upon request. It is currently possible to swap between Release 15 and 16.
Assigning Configurations to Sites
From the Configuration Panel
Once a configuration has been created, access the Configuration Panel
Click on the "+" icon to the right of the desired Configuration Name
Begin typing the relevant site name
The intended site must not currently be assigned a configuration to appear as an option
From the Site Page
Access the site from the Network Health Monitoring Workbench
Select the configuration under the "Site Configuration" tab
Click "Apply Changes"
