KALLO v8.5.2 - Firmware Release Notes - August 2026

Summary

This update adds a variety of new P25, passive cellular, and active cellular metrics through the improvement of P25 metric handling, the upgraded parsing of passive cellular metrics, and the addition of SMS tests to the configuration panel. Alongside this, significant stability improvements eliminate known bugs and further reduces boot-up time.

All Revision E20 KALLOs will only report as expected when updated to v8.5.2 as of 2026-08-11.

Compatibility & Upgrade Notice

  • Applies to: Revision E20 devices (serials beginning with KA-E20).

  • Delivery method: Automatic OTA update when the device is connected to mobile coverage (or a valid PoE Ethernet backhaul).

  • Important: Devices with revisions earlier than E20 will not receive v8.5.2 and should remain on the prior firmware.

  • Recommendation: Ensure device has stable power, remains connected, and is not interrupted during update.

  • Added new P25 metrics, including NID and TSBK BLER, among others.

  • Added configurable SMS testing.

  • Added LTE and NR MIMO Rank metrics

  • Added LTE and NR DL Pathloss metrics.

  • Added Wi-Fi backhaul capability.

Enhancements

  • Improved handling of LTE and NR MCS, CQI, PUSCH/PUCCH TXP and TA metrics.

  • Greatly Improved device stability, including further reducing boot-up time.

Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements

  • Fixed P25 blind scan responsiveness.

  • Fixed start-up bugs surrounding SIM card detection.

  • Fixed a variety of modem bugs.

Known Issues & Limitations

  • [Minor] Daily cell scan periodically not occurring.

How to Update & Roll-out Schedule

  • The update is being rolled out in phases starting 11 August 2026. Most devices should complete the update within 24–48 hours once connected.

  • If your device remains on the previous version after 72 hours while connected and powered, please contact [email protected] for assistance.

  • All updates timeout 5 days after being scheduled. If a device is not powered on within 5 days of 9 June 2026, please contact [email protected] to reschedule an update.
