Summary:
This release delivers major enhancements for connectivity and network testing, introducing support for P25 module scanning, Ethernet backhaul detection, improved network handling and a number of stability fixes.
Compatibility & Upgrade Notice
Applies to: Revision E20 devices (serials beginning with KA-E20).
Delivery method: Automatic OTA update when the device is connected to mobile coverage (or a valid PoE Ethernet backhaul).
Important: Devices with revisions earlier than E20 will not receive v8.3.3 and should remain on the prior firmware.
Recommendation: Ensure device has stable power, remains connected, and is not interrupted during update.
What’s New
New Features
P25 Testing Support — Devices equipped with the P25 module can now scan nearby P25 channels and report full metrics through the API.
Ethernet Backhaul — When a valid PoE Ethernet data connection is detected, the device will automatically route traffic via Ethernet instead of cellular.
Enhancements
Improved Network Handling — Passive RF testing now works even on carrier networks not supported by the built-in Hologram IoT eSIM.
Workflow & OTA Optimisations — Various under-the-hood improvements to increase update reliability and reduce downtime during firmware rollout.
Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements
Fixed an issue where OTA update would stall under low-signal conditions.
Resolved unexpected cellular fallback when a valid Ethernet connection is present (ensuring the device stays on the stronger backhaul).
Improved P25 module event logging and API metric accuracy.
Miscellaneous minor fixes and performance tweaks across RF scan routines, reporting dashboards and device restart logic.
Known Issues & Limitations
Devices on versions earlier than Revision E20 are not supported for this firmware and will remain on the prior release.
Some carrier networks may still restrict or block passive RF testing; please verify local network compatibility before relying on this feature.
How to Update & Roll-out Schedule
The update is being rolled out in phases starting 11 November 2025. Most devices should complete the update within 24–48 hours once connected.
If your device remains on the previous version after 72 hours while connected and powered, please contact [email protected] for assistance.
All updates timeout 5 days after being scheduled. If a device is not powered on within 5 days of 11 November 2025, please contact [email protected] to reschedule an update.
