Please note: Walk test reporting requires a valid account on the Ranlytics Walk Test Reporting Platform. To sign up, please contact our support team at [email protected].
The Reporting Process
Download log files off the CERNO and place them in a folder on your computer for ease of access.
Place all relevant log files into a singular folder per Site walked.
Log files should be named identifiably relating to the level walked. For example, "Building A Level 01".
Navigate to the Walk Test Uploader: https://wt-upload.ranlytics.com/l/
Create or access a site and project.
Upload relevant logs.
Allocated uploaded logs to relevant floors/levels and process the files.
Green means the logs have successfully processed.
Red means an error has occurred.
Access the Walk Test Reporting Platform: https://walktest.ranlytics.com/
Access the relevant Site and Project
Select one HEM.
You can check log file names by clicking a level in the "Floor" table on the left. This allows you to check the name of each HEM as configured during the walk test. If HEMs are named according to their configuration, this then allows for identification of set scripts, band locks, channel locks, and SIMs.
Downloading and Organising Walk Test Logs
Log files set to be uploading to the Walk Test Uploader are ideally organised differently from those to be uploaded to the Drive Test Platform.
Before Walk Testing
Prior to performing a walk test, it is recommended that the below measures are taken to simplify the log upload process.
Rename all floorplan files to be clearly indicative of their site and floor/area/level. For instance, "Building A Level 01", "Building A Level 02", "Building B Level 15" etc. Place these within a folder per site walked within the floorplans folder. Importantly, each 'Site' folder within the Floorplan folder must not contain any subfolders.
When starting a log, a pop-up input window will appear allowing the naming of the log file. The input field is automatically populated by the name of the floorplan currently on display. It is recommended that you do not rename the log file during normal operation. This allows for easy identification of which log files correspond to which floorplan - which will simplify the process later.
Log files follow the following naming structure:
[Log Name]_[Date-Time]_[HEM Name]_[UNIX Time]_[HEM Number]
If above steps are followed, the resultant log file will appear similarly to:
Building_A_Level_01_Jul_30_12_00_00_HEM_Name_#########_###
After Walk Testing
Prior to upload, all log files must be able to be identified in relation to their floorplan. If the steps above have been followed, this should be easily achieved with all logs within a single folder. Otherwise, it may be best to organise log files in individual folders per floor / level.
When downloading log files from a CERNO onto a Windows or Mac computer, drag and drop all relevant 'site' folders inside each HEMs' logs folder onto your desktop or other relevant location. This should merge all logs into a singular folder per site.
Uploading and Processing Walk Test Logs
Once all log files are organised and identifiable, follow the steps below to upload and process your log files.
In your browser of choice, navigate to the Cerno Walk Test Uploader and login. If you do not have an account, contact our support team at [email protected].
Access an existing site by clicking on its row or create a new one by clicking the + icon at the top of the page. Do the same in the "Sub-Project" page. When creating sites, all fields must be filled except latitude and longitude - which will place a marker on a world map if inputted.
Accessing a Sub-Site, uploading logs consists of 3 steps: Uploading, Organising, and Processing.
Uploading Log Files:
Select log files by clicking "Add" or dragging and dropping relevant log files onto the page, then clicking "Start" at the top of the page.
Uploading one level's logs at a time is highly recommended.
Organising Log Files:
Create levels by clicking "+" under "Organised Logfiles". These levels should be named relevant to the site tested. Eg. "Level 01", "Level 01 - Mezzanine", "Basement", etc. Creating one level at a time is recommended.
Do not use special characters (such as emoticons), slashes ("/" or "\"), or singular numbers (such as "1"), when naming floors.
These levels are organised alphabetically when reports are generated. For the sake of legibility:
Start numbering with 01, 02, etc (Level 01, Level 02, etc). This is so that "Level 10" - "Level 19" do not come between "Level 1" and "Level 2".
Special levels or areas, such as mezzanines, are labelled with their nearest/connected level. For instance, a mezzanine on the first level should be named "Level 01 - Mezzanine" rather than simply "Mezzanine". Likewise, "Level - Ground" will show the ground floor prior to any other floors named "Level ##".
Click and drag log files from "Unallocated Log Files" into the "Logs" column of the relevant level. If the above recommendations have been followed, continue by repeating the above steps for each level.
Processing Log Files:
Once all log files have been uploaded and allocated, click "✔" to begin processing the logs. This is done automatically, and the logs will turn green if successful, or red otherwise. Every log file with more than one marker should successfully process. If any unexpected errors occur, please send relevant logs and details to [email protected].
You do not need to stay on this page after clicking "✔".
The Walk Test Reporting Platform
Once all logs have been processed, reports and spreadsheets can be generated by navigating to the Cerno Walk Test Reporting Platform. Login details are shared between the Walk Test Reporting Platform and the Walk Test Uploader.
Navigation
All navigation done on the Walk Test Reporting Platform is done by clicking its relevant checkbox then clicking the up-arrow icon circled below.
Navigate to sites and projects created in the Walk Test Uploader, which are placed on the world map if populated with a latitude and longitude upon creation.
Inside each project is the Floorview Display, which allows for report and CSV generation, log viewing, and report customisation.
Floorview Display
Floor List:
Displays all floors / levels as created in the log upload process. Do not click the checkboxes in the floor list during normal operation - this generates a "Combined Summary" page, which is not available by default. Please contact [email protected] if interested.
Click anywhere else in the row to inspect the logs assigned to each floor. Here, you can view and deselect individual logs to hide them from appearing in generated Reports and CSVs. Floors will still generate with empty plots, stats and charts in Reports if all logs assigned to the floor are unselected.
Selecting a single log and clicking "Open Tab" will inspect the log and allow you to run basic queries on it in-browser.
Navigation Bar
Allows for navigation between the Floorview Display, and customisation pages for Stats, Queries (plots), Charts, Reports, and CSVs.
HEM List
Displays all HEMs associated with uploaded logs. The HEM list displays band lock settings for GSM, UMTS and LTE, reading the technology type in the frequency band column where applicable. The connected operator at the beginning of the log is also displayed in the "Operator" column.
Select one HEM at a time by clicking on their relevant checkbox when generating Reports and CSVs.
CSV Generation
Select a CSV template, one HEM, and click "Generate" to generate a custom CSV. The rows in these CSVs are always ordered by time.
CSV templates are written in JavaScript and can be created and edited in the "CSV Editor" tab in the navigation bar. No accounts are loaded with CSV templates by default, please contact [email protected] with template requests. Please include all necessary metrics in all CSV template requests.
Upon clicking "Generate", an input parameter panel will appear. Here, you can input parameters to filter the generated CSV. By default, this is generally limited to channel (EARFCN/ARFCN) or PCI. If the parameter includes the "Comma Separated" descriptor, you can filter to two or more values by inputting them as "123,456,789", without spaces.
Report Generation
Select a report template, one HEM, and click "Generate" to generate a custom report.
A variety of reporting templates are automatically included in every customer account. These templates have been included as a demonstration of the platform's capabilities and therefore are heavily customisable to fit aesthetic and functional requirements. The following templates should be used by default for their respective technologies:
GSM:
GSM-Phone
UMTS:
UMTS-Phone-Data (no voice calls)
UMTS-Phone-Voice (when performing voice calls)
UMTS-Scanner (when using PCtel Scanner, returns one inputted channel)
LTE or NR:
LTE-NR-Phone with Stats
LTE-NR Scanner (when using PCtel Scanner, returns one inputted channel)
(LTE ONLY) LTE-Scanner All Channels (when using PCtel Scanner, returns all found LTE channels)
Upon clicking "Generate", an input parameter panel will appear with varying parameters available depending on the template used. For all templates, the "Band" and "Operator" inputs are used for title pages and naming only. Please contact [email protected] for clarification on specific templates and their input parameters.
